Reporting & Resolution Policy

Oasis’ mission is to provide a friendly, safe, and inclusive environment for spankos aged 19+ to be themselves. Anyone whose actions directly interfere with this goal or violates our Code of Conduct is subject to remedial action or exclusion from our event, including action up to an indefinite suspension.

We believe the safety of our attendees is paramount. We take allegations of abuse and harassment seriously. We will look into complaints of conduct at our event for our registered attendees and may consider other outside conduct that has the potential to impact our events. This complaint process is not intended to resolve interpersonal conflicts that do not implicate the safety of our attendees. We will not consider complaints that are based on hearsay or rumor. Our focus is to create a fun and safe environment for all attendees.  Every matter is different and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

This living document is subject to change in order to best serve our community’s dynamic needs.

Types of Reports

We will review reports about violations of our Code of Conduct regardless of how much time has elapsed since the violation occurred. We accept the following types of reports:

Incident reports. An incident report is a report that can be made regarding a violation of our Code of Conduct that is not related to a person’s physical safety.

Examples (including but not limited to): someone playing in non-designated play areas, violating the photo policy, inappropriate behavior towards hotel staff, etc.

Consent reports. A consent report is a report that can be made regarding a direct violation of a person’s consent or personal safety.

Examples (including but not limited to): ignoring safewords, sexual acts without express consent, coercion, etc.

Who Can Make a Report

Anyone with direct knowledge of a violation of our Code of Conduct by an Oasis registered attendee is encouraged to contact Oasis directly. This can be done at any time by filling out our form, emailing us a review@oasisparties.org, or contacting an Organizer.

Direct knowledge means that the reporting person must have either:

  1. Personally experienced the violation of our Code of Conduct, and/or

  2. Witnessed the violation of our Code of Conduct.

In most cases, a report provided by a person who heard about an incident or a report from an untraceable source will not be accepted. If a complaint is made against a non-registered individual, the report will be documented and reviewed at such time the individual registers.

An individual accused of a consent violation outside of our complaint resolution process (i.e. a complaint has not been made to us about this person) may also request a review of the allegations against them by Oasis.

Informal Reports and Resolution

For some complaints that may be minor in nature, Oasis may attempt to resolve a complaint informally. These complaints may be regarding incidents that arise out of miscommunication or a poorly negotiated scene.

Examples (include but is not limited to): someone is making unwanted comments, following another person around, or engaging in non-consensual (non-sexual) touching, using an implement not expressly negotiated, pulling down underwear without prior discussion.

In these instances, the Organizers will issue a warning to the subject of the complaint. If the person continues to repeat problematic behavior they will be asked to leave the event and may be subject to an attendance restriction.

Formal Reports and Resolution

Incident reports. Upon receiving an incident report, Oasis will review the information and may, if finding a violation of our Code of Conduct has occurred, take any action appropriate and necessary to safeguard our events and attendees.

Consent reports. Upon receiving a consent report, Oasis will determine if the report falls within the scope of reviewable reports. Any persons allegedly harmed or impacted will be contacted for confirmation and express consent to continue this formal review process. In cases where we have received a witnessed report, we will attempt to follow up with the directly impacted person(s). However, we will be unable to proceed without their express consent. Once this consent has been obtained, we will then gather information related and relevant to the report. The impacted parties and relevant witnesses will be permitted to engage with the Organizers as part of this review process. Oasis will consider all information available and may take any action appropriate and necessary to safeguard our events and attendees.

Corrective Action. At the discretion of the Organizers, the following corrective actions may be taken against violators of our Code of Conduct:

  1. Warning

  2. Probation

  3. Conditional attendance (i.e., attendance with restrictions)

  4. Exclusion from our parties for a period of time, and/or

  5. Indefinite exclusion (ban) from our parties until such time as the Organizers decide to lift the suspension.

Decision notification. Only the parties involved in the report (not including witnesses) will be notified by email of our decision regarding the resolution of the complaint.

Appeals Process. On a case-by-case basis and at our discretion, Oasis may review its final decision regarding incident and consent reports.

Confidentiality. Except as needed to investigate a report and gather information, all reports submitted to Oasis will not be shared with persons not directly involved in the matter unless expressly permitted. Oasis may share information regarding a report with the parties involved and with identified witnessesInformation regarding the complaint that is shared will be limited in scope and only when determined by us to be necessary.

In the interest of protecting the privacy of the persons involved, Oasis will not provide a public list of individuals excluded from our events. However, if and when appropriate, we may discuss inquiries regarding the attendance of specific individuals. Requests for this information must be sent to team@oasisparties.org.

Conflicts of Interest. If an Organizer has a conflict of interest with parties involved in a complaint, they shall immediately notify Oasis and remove themselves from the complaint resolution process.

Out-of-process actions. Oasis reserves the right to suspend or indefinitely exclude without warning repeat offenders of our Code of Conduct, any person convicted of a serious crime, or any person whose presence may cause a disruption.
